E&T Education
Practical ideas for STEM teachers
E&T Education; successor to Electronics Education
Over recent issues of Electronics Education, readers will have noticed a shift in editorial content.
Alongside our traditional articles – intended to support electronics teaching within Design and Technology – we’ve been including articles designed to be of interest to STEM teachers in general. This change was announced in our Spring 2008 issue, in the context of the launch of the September 2008 revised secondary school curriculum with its emphasis on cross-curricular teaching.
Our new name provides formal recognition of this important change in editorial focus. E&T Education will follow the basic approach of Electronics Education. The emphasis will be on fundamental concepts and successful projects – succinctly described as “stuff that works in the classroom” – but our target readership is now the wider STEM teaching community.
What is E&T Education?
E&T (Engineering & Technology) Education is a free magazine sent to all UK secondary schools (science and design and technology departments), teachers’ training colleges and many educational organisations.
Published termly (September, January and May) the magazine seeks to be a resource for STEM teachers at Key Stages 3 and 4 and the sixth form. Aimed at the STEM community in general, the magazine also includes articles focused specifically on supporting electronics teaching within design and technology. In all articles, there is an emphasis on project work, providing teachers with ideas to pursue with their own pupils. In addition, the magazine reviews books, software, and other educational products.
Articles are drawn from a number of sources, but contributions from teachers and pupils are strongly encouraged. The intention is to include at least one pupil-project article in each issue. Honoraria are available for teacher-written articles, while authors of published pupil projects receive a gift voucher.
